Example : Automated heat detection system in a dairy farm
Let's consider a dairy farmer who envisages installing an automated heat detection system which is expected to :
reduce the replacement rate from 38% to 30%
increase milk yield from 8 100 to 8 222 kg/cow/year
increase the cost of concentrates from 680 to 690 €/cow/year.
The replacement value of the PLF technology is 10 000 €, the depreciation period is 10 years and the yearly maintenance costs are 1% of the investment.
Implementing the automated heat detection system will increase labour income by € 1 910 per year.
