A large variety of feedstuffs is used for animal feeding throughout the world.
They are usually classified as forages or concentrates.
Forages are the main feed for all ruminants and herbivores and have high fibre content.
Forage can be consumed green (pasture for grazing animals or green crop) or harvested and stored as hay, silage and others forms.
Concentrates are high energy or high protein feedstuffs.
They mainly include cereal grains (wheat, corn, triticale,...), legume (pea, faba bean, alfalfa,...), oil seeds (soya, rapeseed, linseed,...), roots and tuber, co-products of all these grains, plants and seed (brans, hulls, molasses, meals,...).
