Using sensor

An example of practical use of sensor if the monitoring of fear in horses

Monitoring fear in horses is based on the use of an accelerometer and an heart rate sensor. In this project developed at the Catholic University of Leuven, the idea was to quantify the mental status (fear) of a horse in a non-invasive and continuous way during physical exercise, measuring physical activity and heart rate, and to develop a mathematical approach. In addition, the heart rate was modelled from physical activity and compared to the measurement, and a model error was obtained.

In a final step, a stress factor was introduced and could be detected by the model
